You need a $310 "receiver set" to use 6.8?????????????????????????
News to me. Maybe I got it wrong. My XYZ parts box 6.8 "receiver set" does as well an any sane person would expect for under $100. |

No. For using Magpul's Six8 Pmags with LWRC Six8 receiver set which is $550 on sale, compared to this receiver set for $310. The Six8 Pmags are slightly larger than a regular Pmag or mag for the AR15 and require a slightly larger magwell. LWRC Six8 and this receiver sets have the larger magwell and only work with the Six8 Pmags.

So in order to use a polymer 6.8 magazine, I need a special lower receiver?
Pass, I'll just be happy with my 6.5 and the old-fashioned metal mags.

LWRC Six8 was designed for a middle east military that wanted the 6.8 but with Magpul Pmags. To make it work, LWRC had to enlarge the magwell to accommodate the larger Pmags that have thicker walls compared to a regular .223/5.56 Pmag. The Six8 are great mags IMO. But like you said, may not be enough to sway buyers to these new receivers or LWRC’s pricey version. But if somebody decides to make a metal Six8 mag, that would change everything. Then you could load the 6.8 past 2.3” which reduces pressure and creates a more powerful 6.8.
