Question on Burris daylight/twilight scope

I bought a rifle to day with a Burris 6 X 24 signature which has a dial on the objective end that has a daylight / twilight setting on it. When I look in the objective end I see shudders in it so I under stand the concept but I can't turn the adjustment to make it open and close. My question is there a trick to turn the adjustment as I don't want to force it as it won't turn.
