Savage receivers

Anybody know for sure what type of steel is used in Model 99 Savage receivers?

Per 1939 Savage ad: "All Model 99 rifles are made of 'High-Pressure' steel."

Savage would no sooner make the exact specifications of the steel they used public than I would give you the recipe for my award-winning chili.

I could get one analyzed in a town near here but it would mean cutting it up. I agree, gun companies that did stuff in house had their own mix most of the time and ordered from the mill accordingly.
