Model 41 make date?
I just purchased a model 41. I believe it to be one of the recent classics offered by S&W, judging by the plastic case. Serial # UDA 0128. Anyone know what year it was made? Thanks in advance.

The "U" prefixes started around 1997. The only way to know for sure would be to call S&W's customer service. They will give you the DOB over the phone for free. S&W started using the plastic cases in 1995. Jim |

Holy cow, you guys know your stuff! I have 3 S&W revolvers I'd like to know the years on.
The first is a 66 I asked about earlier this week before I bought it: 4K20XXX MY 686 PowerPort: CBB53XX And - if it's ok - the 617 I got a few months ago: CDK44XX If my habit continues to grow, I'll definitely have to buy some books! Maybe a model 60, a 6" model 19, a couple snubbies....you know, just the essentials. |

Jim, thanks for the reply. I am aware of where to look for the model number. I don't have a picture of the revolver, just going off of the label on a box. I have pasted a photo of a photo (not very clear) of the label with Serial #AUC2392. According to the label, it shows to be a nickel Model 29. What am I missing here?

Per the label, the special order number 6115 means the gun was packaged on the 115 day of 1986. That makes it a 29-3. The -2's ended in 1982 and the -3's ended in 1988. The product code 101212 confirms a 6" nickel 29. Jim Last edited by laytonj1; August 27, 2013 at 06:52 PM. |

Jim,
I thought you meant by your response that it was a 629-1 like the picture you sent. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I appreciate your help and thank you very much. Take care, Bill

Just found a nice older I-frame 32swl, serial 4544XX; IIRC it should be around late 20s or early 30s
Appreciate any help! |

I don't have the Catalogue handy, it is in a separate storage facility. I actually bought two of them and I thought that I had at least one here but conducted a search and could not find them here in my apartment.
You might be able to save me a trip. That would be appreciated... I have a 65-5, Serial #is CBE 61**. Last edited by brentfoto; September 10, 2013 at 11:56 PM. |
