Serial numbers ran from 25K0001 in 1978 to 56K9999 in 1979.
Production ran from 1955 to 1999. The -4 was the last engineering change to still have the pinned barrel and recessed cylinder, it was deleted with the -5 series.

I'm trying to find out any info on this old revolver. All we know about it, is my friend's grandfather won it in a poker game. I thought it was a "1905" but because of the V, I'm confused, as I seem to find mixed information. In the list of posted serials, I didn't see any V's other than the "victory" issues, but I'm just not sure.

The pistol is nickel plated, no adjustable rear sight, the rear sight has indentation that is painted green. Front sight is a ramp, has a section painted red. It has faux stag grips which I'm assuming are after market.

On the butt it's marked V 565740, inside the cylinder rim is marked P V and same serial. Serial is also under the barrel followed by a P. Behind the cylinder is stamped 23108 which I've learned from this thread is internal factory.

There is no model number stamped so I know it's before 1957, but I'm guessing the nickel job was done after the fact, I'd like to know the date of manufacture to determine was it pre-war, post-war, or indeed a "Victory" version.

Looks like a .38 Single Action, 1st Model.
Serial numbers ran from 1 in 1876 to 25548 in 1877.
