What exactly do I have here?
I think it's a 1920's Model 1905, Series 4 hand eject in 32WCF (32-20)
S/N 1078xx It also has 34247 on the crane. (Is that the right word?) Thank you in advance. |

Serial numbers ran from 65701 in 1915 to 144684 in 1940. So, 1920's is a safe bet. Other makers call it the crane, S&W calls it the yoke. Jim |

Thank you Jim. On most S&W wheel guns I've seen the model number is stamped on the yoke. Any idea what that number means?
I found a post on an S&W forum a few minutes ago that mentioned a fellow having a 1923 built one of these with a serial in the 116xxx range. He claimed his barrel was stamped with 32-20 and IIRC S&W made the nomenclature change about then. So I am ASSuming this is pre-1923. Saw it sitting in a pawn shop today. Looked so nice for a nearly 100 year old I had to have it. Prolly paid too much, but, Feh. It's only money. Any idea what frame this is? Wikipoodia says it is a variant of the model 10 which would make it a K? |

The SCSW does not get that in depth on that model so I would defer to what you read on the S&W forum. The other number is an assembly number. Jim |

Serial numbers ran from 102501 in 1910 to 263000 in 1917. S&W did not start making stainless steel guns till 50 years later so it's either nickel (shiny like chrome) or it's been refinished to look like stainless steel. Jim |

Thanks very much Jim! Excuse my ignorance on the stainless comment, it is nickel. Do you know if the pearl would be real, and any approximate value of this model?

S&W Revolvers
New to this, but I have two S&W revolvers that I'm trying to figure out what the model numbers are to get a price for them out of a blue book.
One is a .32 Long CTG, 6 shot, Fluted Cylinder, 4" barrel, serial # C 291** The second is a .38 special airweight hammerless snub nose, serial # 754** Any help would be really appreciated! |

Value ranges from $1K in good to over $2K in excellent. 754xx = 1955/56. It's a 38 Chiefs Special Airweight (pre model 37) $300 to $600+ Jim |

Hi folks,
Just found a nice little model 60 (.38 spl) in great condition for a very reasonable price. Serial number is R112xxx, curious how old it might be. Thanks |

If it's a round butt it would be a 32 Hand Ejector 3rd Model made around 1921. If a square butt then a 32 Regulation Police also made around 1921. Jim |

Thanks Jim, I had no idea how old it is.. I am flirting with the thought of selling it, I really love it, its a 9mm tank that's for sure, problem is its so darn heavy, and for me and my financial well being that's just not convenient nor practical, I don't have the luxury of keeping it and just buying another pistol to carry instead, I need something lighter, because everytime I carry it, it practically brings my pants down. lol I am thinking of getting a 9mm glock, or my brother just recently got a Sig Sauer P290 with crimson trace laser and I really liked it, I haven't shot it, but I held it and I like the feeling of it and I imagine its allot lighter to carry for EDC. any thoughts on this? pro's and con's? |
