Good news indeed but this American hating POS shouldn’t have any position in government.

It is a victory I'll gladly accept until the mid-terms, when we can (hopefully) land some hay-makers.

Best news I've heard all day. I wonder just who their back up anti-gun nominee will be?

At least in the short term, the withdrawal of the Chipman nomination is a victory.
As they may be rare in the near future, celebrate each one...

Oh my God, I can't even believe this guy was nominated. Wait, yes, I can, but what an idiot.

one of the flaws in our system is the political appointment of people to head departments and agencies of the govt.
All too often they don't have a solid understanding of what they are being appointed to manage. Rarely do they have any understanding of the more technical aspects. Of course, the argument is that they don't need that, there are people underneath them who know those things. And, to a degree, this is true, BUT, leadership, for good or ill, comes from the top down. In a better world, no one with a personal political agenda (in any direction) would be in charge of any group who's purpose is to impartially enforce the law. (and I include courts in that) Sadly, that's not what we have. So, celebrate the victory of common sense, its rare, but it does happen sometimes. Just be aware that the person offered next as a replacement could be just as bad, or even worse, just not as obvious about it...

I'm looking forward to the DeSantis presidency in 3 years and the appointment of ATF director Nugent.

I don't think we've seen the last of David Chipman. I wouldn't put it past President Biden to appoint Chipman to the new "Gun Czar" or some other made up title just to get him "in".

Do you think he'll have to compete with Beto for the position of "gun czar"??
Seriously, their next nominee (if any) WILL be in line with their views, but won't be an obvious, recognized fanatic ...er... activist about it. They'll choose someone who's personal views are in line with theirs, but who's views have to date, "flown under the radar" of public scrutiny, so as to make the confirmation process go smoothly. Expect them or to say all the right things, to get confirmed, and not let their true feelings and agenda become known until after confirmation. Both sides of the aisle do it, on all kinds of different issues.

Keep your powder (what you have of it) dry, until 11/23/22.

Whether or not it functions in the correct manner is a different matter. Chicken Little wasn't entirely wrong, something from the sky did fall on him. But it the entire sky wasn't falling the way he claimed it was. The "wrong" side (from your, or my point of view) winning an election is not the end of our republic. Certainly its not a good thing, but its not the end of the republic. Takes a lot more than that... a lot more...
