IMHO - yes, I would actually say that's got more than a grain of truth to it.
So much was going on in both the corporate world & the US economy @ that time......

S&W quality during the LSI years can be likened to Harley Davidson's, during the AFM years.

S&W was a "throw away" part of LSI & just about everyone connected with it knew that. A few good people still hung on @ S&W & a fair number of decent guns were produced, but, overall,,,things were pretty bad.

I AM limited to blued S&W revolves.

Self-limited in that I do not like either stainless steel or nickel.

So all of my S&W revolvers are blued.

I would start by bracketing your K's with a J and an N.

Whew....gotta be a 4" Model 24 (1950 Target....44 Spl of course), and a 5" Model 27...but if we're really REALLY lucky...a Model 16 in .32 S&W Long. Of course there's the always desired Model 18 .22 LR. Rod

I wouldn't get hung up on a pinned barrel if the M27 you find is nice!

I personally prefer the S&W's made prior to 1980 and I could throw up a dozen or so pictures of my favorite Smiths, but if I was limited to just two or three, I would definitely have the following:

K22 Masterpiece

M19

M29

Honorable mention would go to a 586 even though it is a later production gun.

I have 5 blued ones - mostly vintage. A snub 36, a 3" 36, M & P Target, 5" M & P and a Combat Masterpiece - all 38 specials. If I could only have one - it would be my 5" M & P - born the same year as I was - 1952 and my absolute favorite Smith to shoot.

For me, it would be a 4" version of the defunct Nighguard .357's... Why they quit making this... I dont know... Hard to find and way too expensive, but it had all the cool stuff right out of the box...

I don't know exactly, except that it was in 1948. Serial number is 24367, so I suspect it was made early in the year. I also have another K22 that was made in '48.

I think the ones on the OP's list are good choices. I have the 17-3 and 14-3 with 2 Ts (got no use for target stocks but I love the TH and TT). They are the jewels of my collection and also get regular use.

The 3" Model 13 is excellent and getting pricey, but is high on my list also.

My winter carry gun. No need to worry about "rackin' a dang slide", if the first round doesn't make any noise, just pull the trigger again for the next one in rotation.
If I miss, the FLAME will get 'em. Won't be able to hear any screaming, after the first round, can't hear ANYTHING. Just in case, an extra speed loader in my jacket pocket:

I like both blued and SS revolvers, but if I had to pick one blued wheel gun for my collection it would be a M1917 in .45ACP.
