Mine was a magazine fed Mossberg 22 that I got for xmas back in 1963. It had a cheap Western Field 4x scope and I thought I was Buffalo Bill with that setup.

Stag Arms Model 4 AR15 was my first semi auto rifle. I got mine because I love military style firearms and it was the best based on my research in regards to quality - cost factor.

I would be enlisting into the military not long after I had purchased it, and my familiarity with the AR platform certainly came in handy during BMT.

A Marlin 60 I think bought new in 1964 put 10's of thousands of rounds thru it. was younger then so iron sights.
It was within the very tight budget then and 22 ammo was cheap when on sale.

Marlin Model 60 .22. Still have it. It's not only my first autoloading rifle, it's the only autoloading rifle I've ever owned, until I finish my AR build.

My first semi automatic was an M-1 Carbine, manufactured by IBM. I am a baby boomer, and in the early 1960's, carbines , ammo, and accessories could be found in virtually any Army/Navy store, and for around twenty bucks. Loved the rifle, and it functioned flawlessly, however, I could not hit the broad side of a red barn with it...Alas, it went away! I compared the M-1 Carbine with a beautiful wife totally devoid of any usable skills, save, looking good. It's okay to kiss me honey, but don't muss up my makeup..Babe she had to go! Just for historical value, I would like to have it back, as a hanger, not a shooter.

Winchester 190 .22LR from 1972. Still have it and it is still my main .22LR rifle for the little critters and night time varmits.

A 10/22. I still have it, but most of the stock parts have been slowly replaced. I smooth bored the barrel after about 50,000 rds and 10 years. Dad could barely feed me bricks fast enough back then.

Back when you could still find bricks. Ahhh the good ol days.

Ruger 10/22, Christmas, 1975. I put 100 rounds through it the very next day, then literally didn't shoot it again for almost twenty years. I took my girls to the range, fifteen years after that, when they were about the same age I was when I got the rifle, and we put another 100 through it.

Stevens 85A. The year was 1958, I was 7 years old. Still have it.
It's been refinished twice, cut back and re-crowned once, drilled
and tapped for Weaver bases. Have lots of newer and fancier 22's now,
but the old Stevens will still go bang everytime I pull the trigger, and
put them all in a half inch group at 25 yds.

Same for me. Mine was in 1975. Sadly, it was stolen a few years later. I picked up one about 5 years ago in mint condition but the mystique has passed. It gets very little shooting time these days.

Another Marlin (Glenfield) Model 60 here. I bought it in 1971 for $34 at Globe Shopping City, Mesa, Az and still have it. Lots of fun times with it!

A brand new walnut on blue Ruger 10/22 in the early '90s. Not only was it my first semi-auto rifle, it was the first gun that I ever owned. I wanted a plinker and did not need a high-power rifle of my own at that time. I still own it and now my kids are shooting it too!

Marlin Model 60, in 1971. I hunted lots of squirrels with it over the years, and one of my sons has it now. Easily gunsmithed, accurate enough for squirrels and rabbits in the woodlot, durable as any gun I've ever owned.

Glenfield(Marlin 60) back in 1971...it was a gift from my grandfather to me and my three brothers. He purchased it from K Mart.
