Nutria - Oregon or SW Washington

Anyone know any good spots to go Nutria hunting in Portland area or SW Washington?

Let me know too... I'm SE of Seattle but I find my way down towards Centrailia and Longview often.

Go south my friend, they have a ton in Louisiana, plus that looks like gator gun.

Thanks. yeah it is a big gun to say the least...Too much for Nutria but more is always better.

Anyone have any idea of where to go in Oregon or WA?

Looked all over and nothing...PM if you wish.

they're everywhere around eugene
I've never hunted them, but i've seen their bodies stacked next to the road on the way out to the wildlife preserve.

Thanks...Need specific area so we do not go on a goose chase. I will be driving 3 hours down to Portland.

I would be willing to bet they are on every little stretch of slow water around the Columbia and the Willamette. Anything that looks like "wetlands" - marshy ponds, etc.

Hard thing about Portland is getting to something that is not incorparated into some city limits.

Sorry I don't have specifics, as I am not a Portland guy.

I hope you are driving 3 hours for something other than just Noot-shooting.

They have them in Washington I am sure. And you realize it is not like P-dog shooting where you can set up and shoot for a few hours.

Dude, I wouldn't drive a mile specifically to shoot one, but if I happen across one, I kill it. Destructive, invasive, overgrown rats!

Yeah I hear you but going to the range is repetitive and I can do that every day of the week...Want to try it out and help Oregon out. I am near Seattle area so shooting is sorta tough unless you are at a range.

I grew up in salem and spent a lot of time walking along irrigation ditches with a .22. Also blasted quite a few with a shotgun while duck hunting. Anywhere that is open to duck hunting will most likely have nutria. Call sauvie island and find out if its allowed there. Or spend a little time driving through farmland and when you see fields with irrigation ditches, stop and ask if you can help them with their nutria problems. Put in a few hours and you'll probably find a spot or two to shoot.

The problem down here in Oregon with the areas that are open to duck hunting, is that they are often "shotgun only" as well.

Find a friendly grass seed farmer off the river, or any slew off of the Willamette that isn't a part of a greenway, and you will find nutria.

I had a Nylon 66 20+ years ago. Lost track of it somewhere along the way... But it was a fun little rifle.

All you guys must have never seen "Terror In The Swamp." Otherwise you would not be so anxious to meet up with a nutria in the wild.
