Wby Vangaurd action threads
Are the weatherby vanguard action threads the same as a weatherby mark V? If anyone knows, I need to know because I found a mark V barrel, and v'gaurds are a lot cheaper than a mark v...

Sir;
Weatherby Mark V thread are 16V , shank is .700 long and o.d. is 1.060. I, at this time don't have the Vanguard/Howa thread without going to the shop and digging through my barrels. But, by checking your barrel against Mark V specs. you will be able to tell. But there is much more work to be done to a barrel other than just screwing it up - the Mark V barrel has some special cuts ar the rear whereas the Vanguard, according to my memory, does not. well, I can't really inspect the barrel, it is about 400 miles away, I was just wandering if anyone knew off hand.
The reason I am asking is because the barrel is chambered for 338-378, for a mk5 and I guess I should have also asked if the vgaurd action will even handle that round? Thanks again |
