Candidates for rifle build
Basically I'm trying to decide if I should find a used and abused old rifle with a decent trigger group/action/barrel and buy a new tactical stock then refit it or just buy each piece and do a complete build. Options I have found are: 300 win mag or similar cailbers- .308- .270. Im trying to keep the used rifle in the 400-600 range.

Why not a Savage Competition Action at about $525? Includes their competition trigger which, IIRC, is adjustable from 6oz to 2.5lbs. Additional advantage of no gunsmith required.

How much are you willing to spend on the complete build? It gets real expensive quick, my simple Stevens 200 build wound up costing me right at $1600 by the time I was done.
