Got the MPF note from Gunbroker today
Gunbroker sent a reminder that they would be adding 36 states to the list of those they automatically collect sales tax for, acting as a "Marketplace Facilitator" (MPF). It appears that eight states are still not part of that, including Florida. I didn't bother to try and figure out all the others, but I see Alaska, Kansas, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon are missing as well.
Here's the complete list, with the states added not in bolded text: Alabama Arizona Arkansas California Colorado Connecticut District of Columbia Georgia Hawaii Illinois Idaho Indiana Iowa Kentucky Louisiana Maine Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Minnesota Mississippi Nebraska Nevada New Jersey New Mexico New York North Carolina North Dakota Ohio Oklahoma Pennsylvania Puerto Rico Rhode Island South Carolina South Dakota Tennessee Texas Utah Vermont Virginia Washington West Virginia Wisconsin Wyoming Last edited by spacecoast; March 29, 2021 at 05:47 PM. |

How is Gunbroker going to collect and remit sales tax on purchases when payment is sent directly to the seller? I'm wondering if the sales tax collected is going to be on the selling fee that Gunbroker is charging (and not he actual sale of item).

Yes, added to your fee, but also included on the buyer's statement on the GB order. I sold some ammo, and sales tax showed up on the buyer's statement. Since I had not noted this in my listing, I sent the guy a note to just pay what he bid (shipping was on me). The sales tax showed up on my monthly statement.
