That is a beautiful winchester 88 CO steve!
For plinking my favorites are a toss up between my Rossi 92 .357, home built .223 AR and Norinco SKS. I have to mention my Weatherby vanguard vgx in .270 win here. It has just put too much meat on the table and puts cold bore shots where they need to be every time. |

She told me she ordered it from Winchester for him with the Winchester marked recoil pad installed (not uncommon in those days to order a Winchester from the factory with options). Here is a picture of it 'as delivered' before I added the Redfield scope and mount in deference to my older eyes. |

That Winchester 88 above is one fine looking rifle. A Browning 22 caliber lever action rifle was the first gun I was ever given. I still have it. There is something about a classic lever action rifle that gets to me. I feel like going out a buying an 88 right now. The only thing stopping me is money and avaiability.

joy
I'm not sure if "joy" equals "most shot', but the rifle I shoot the most is a boat paddle/stainless Ruger 77/22, usually right here at the house. A cowbell target is out at 100, and a flipper type target out at 50 or so.
I stumbled up on a buy for it maybe 15 years ago, scoped it w/ a Leupold 2x7 rimfire. The trigger was not what I wanted, but an aftermarket sear made it right. Little rifle is accurate enough with any ammo I run through it. Cycles and feeds fine, after many rounds and the same mag....no issues. The stainless construction is forgiving regards sweaty hands and other corrosion, the synthetic stock, ugly as sin, is nail driving tough. I can't hit the bell or the flipper as frequently as I used to........but to step out and shoot is a real pleasure. |

It's always the most recent acquisition. The Hungarian AMD-65 (TGI version), which actually has the very durable Hun. barrel and receiver.
The only issue is that the original muzzle brake spot welds usually crack. Muzzle brakes allow the 12" barrels to be over 16" (legal length: no SBR). Even with the expensive gun smith repair for the much longer/wider weld, it's worth it. Look...you don't know how much time you have left before a major disease or condition strikes. The gun is a unique, paratrooper/tanker version of the AK. "Louietactical" has a good video of his. Many people are turned off by what they call "ugly looks". To me they look wicked and have less muzzle rise than other AKs. Light weight also, and the folding 'wire' stock has a low-cost "cheek riser" (from AMDTech) for a bit of cheek weld. I take one or two of my four 10/22s, or my Savage Mk II Bolt action 22. 22s are all I have for rifles now, after recently selling off the larger calibers.

I probably shoot AR's more than anything, but if I can choose, I have to say Garand. Just something to that rifle that makes it extra special.

Of course my AR10, but my true favorite is my Mark V .300 WBY Mag, so many animals have fallen prey to that rifle I have lost count. I feel like that rifle and I are one.

My favorite gun, that goes to the range every time, is a 22LR semi-auto Sig Sauer 522 classic.
Inexpensive to shoot and just plain fun. Never had a failure of any kind with it, no matter the brand/velocity of ammo used and it is accurate at the ranges I shoot at... able to put the round in the bullseye if I'm using a rest, every time. Love that darn gun. A shame they discontinued them. |

Favorite is an ephemeral thing. Hard to not love the new kid on the block...
And it kinda depends on what I've got that needs testing when I go to the range. Or what range I'm going too. Or what I want to spend on ammo that day. The single shot 22 is accurate and very affordable to use. Slow fire rate, can spend all day shooting without hurting the wallet too much. The 39a just as accurate, higher fire rate is fun too. It's a not easily replaced gun that's worth more than the new pos 39as, that adds pleasure to it. But dumping 50 rounds down range in about 15 seconds before slapping in the next drum and doing it again with my PPS is loads of fun. Not my most accurate gun even when slow fired, but not poorly accurate either. Down side is reloading those drums... The Howa 1500 is supremely accurate. But even cheap ammo is expensive compared to .22s. The 12 guages are a delight to make confetti out paper with. But harder on the shoulder. And a 1911 is always a joy. But doesn't deliver the every good shot touches joy of the more accurate .22s or .223. and again there is price per round concern. |

Probably my Fulton armory m1 carbine is the most fun.
I don't shoot it much but my Shuff mini g garand is a hoot. Also love my 20" 357 marlin cowboys or pigs. |

Of my current firearms, my most favorite is the AR in 6.8spcII with CompC3 Aimpoint.
I could live the rest of my life with just that one rifle and feel completely adequate and properly armed.

I have posted many times that my all time favorite gun is my Marlin 94 in 357 mag. I can load round balls for small game. They are accurate too out to 40 yards or so. I can load light weight lead bullets at a 900fps all the way up to 158gr bullets to 1800fps. Its my do all (just about) rifle. It would serve me for the rest of my life if it had too. It and a shotgun and 357 mag pistol and I would be well armed.

Probably different than most but my 22lr NAA Revolver. No matter how many times I pull it out I can't help but smile. It's also probably the cheapest firearm I own by far.

Favorite currently owned is an Armalite VSR with a couple tasteful mods. Favorite ever owned would be an m1a, loved my socom 16, hated the tritium fat front sight.

I love all my guns, but I would say my SCAR 17. That thing is just a joy to shoot.

I don't have one favorite gun. It's like a favorite color - it depends on where the color is. I like brown for house trim but I don't want a brown car. I like my 3006 for most anything but for bear I like my 358. for coyotes I prefer my 257. The old 06 can do as good a job on them and I have used it for everything from plinking at cans to black bear. It's a comfortable rifle to shoot because I have been shooting it since before I was ten years old. My 358 is built on a 700 action to my specifications - my first custom rifle - and I like it. My 30-30 is probably the gun I use the least but it is an accurate and useful gun all the same. I have too many guns to have a favorite.

Shooting "just for fun"? A semi-auto .22. Any of several, really. In no particular order:
Remington 550. Winchester 90, 61,62, 63. Walther Model 2. Browning. The Walther is boringly tight-group accurate. |

Out of all?
Id say the .30M1 Carbine. The whole package is just right for a fun plinker .even a bit of bullseye at 100yrd orso would stil be doable. Im not a hunter but i gues it would also do for about anything you can down with a .357 aswell. It just rings all my bells when i shoot one The caliber is enjoyable to shoot, but stil has enough recoil impulse to let you know you are not shooting a .22 (i would compare it to a 357mag or maybe a .223) A handy litle carbine with very pleasing looks, honest walnut and parkerised steel. It would honestly be one of the last guns i would ever get rid off with my m14 beeing a close 2nd. |

Favorite lever a .357/38 SPL Rossi Puma 92 that was a blast to shoot but very inaccurate after 30 yards.
Favorite semi is my BCA AR15 7.62x39. Fun as heck to shoot and fairly accurate. |
