Need help identifying 1851 Colt

On the side of the barrel it is marked SM BLACK POWDER ONLY CAL.44 MADE IN ITALY and the under side of the barrel is marked with the number 6. The Italian proof marks on the barrel are where the barrel serial number usually go and the frame (brass) has the serial number is where it usually goes and the frame proof marks are above the serial number. The proof marks on the cylinder are on the end where you put the bullets. No pics yet, but I'm getting there. The serial number is E324## with a date of manufacture of BF

I can't help directly but sometime in the last few months I ran across a web site or forum post that listed all the Italian manufacturers' identification marks. I suggest some Google searching and hopefully you can locate this site.

Almost. It's an Armi San Marco made in 1995.

Here's the link to the proof mark/date code article: https://store.bluebookinc.com/Info/P...Proofmarks.pdf
