Well, my first pair of cheap cowboy boots that I bought in the "just getting started" days have worn out. So time to replace. Which is the most period correct for pre 1899? Round, square or pointed toe. Any other info on period correct boots would be appreciated?

Ned, I'm not sure on the period question. Seems like most historical pictures you see don't look anything like most of the TV/Hollywood versions.
However, I like the medium toe style, the real pointy ones hurt my toes. Let us know what you decide. I just ordered a pair from White's, should be here in a couple of weeks. |

Well, I read that NCOWS doesn't allow boots with stitching on top of the toe area. Which is the type I have now. So, I thought if I ever had a chance to shoot at an NCOWS match, I would not want to be out of place cause of my boots.

Seems like there should be plenty around without stitching.
