Spacer/Extension on Marlin Butt Stock
I have a marlin 1895 XLR in 45-70 with the stainless finish and grey(ish) laminate stock. I've been shooting it quite a while with open sights, but now that I have mounted a scope I am realizing just how short the stock feels . . . I'm a pretty big guy and I like longer length of pulls on most of my rifles, especially the bigger kickers.
Anyway, the factory limbsaver recoil pad seems to have a black 1/4" spacer as part of its construction. (1" pad altogether) Would I be able to find another of these somewhere; without the rest of the pad of course? Or does anyone have an idea what I could use to extend the stock without ruining the look of the rifle? |

Midway also has them. They are frequently sold to competition shotgun shooters. Unless you can see them in person and check them against the size of your recoil pad, you are going to be better off to deliberatly go one size larger and use a sander to shape it down to fit.

The spacers are grind-to-fit. The dimensions are on the Midway web site. Measure yours and get the right size (slightly larger than current). Or you could buy a Limbsaver recoil pad, they come in 1-1/4".
