Finally Got to Action Auctions
This is the Wednesday Night Auction in Florida just below Zephyrhills.
It is a huge auction and at 7:00 they auction off firearms. I did not score any firearms because in my opinion the prices were being bid up too high. Used Brass Frame 1851 Pattern from Pietta went for 135.00. It was in good shape but that is a little too steep for a used revolver in brass. An old bicycle revolver went for 135.00 as well. Two used 1911 clips went for 15.00 but the next bid would hae been 20.00 and I bought them new at a GS for that price. I did buy a toolbox full of BP supplies. Got five pounds of powder, About a billion round ball, sabot bullets, minie balls and such. I'll just melt them down. There was a great condition CVA1400 flask, a nipple wrench, two additional powder measures, a bullet starter and a .31 cal flask. All of this was packed in a good sized Dayton Cantilever tray tool box that needs a good coat of paint. 25.00 for the whole mess.

I missed an opportunity....
On half of a Uberti .44 steel frame. The barrel was gone but the remainder of the revolver was intact and functioned well. It went for forty bucks, but it was clear to me that the guy who bought it was willing to go much higher.
So I let him have it at that good price. Same was true of those 1911 clips. If I had bid on them past 15.00, the only impact would have been for the guy who bought them to pay a higher price. He and I spoke after the auction was over and he understood my action. So now I have to drive down to FL from VA so I can get this dynamite across state lines. Hundred bucks worth of powder, four hundred to drive to FL and back. Yeah that sounds about right ;o) Tnx,

Nie but on the tool box full of goodies Sounds like a good way to spend an evening . . . and a good place to keep your hands in your pocket with the way some of the prices were. Were the 1911 magazines original govt. issue (i.e. vintage?) or new ones? That will make a difference on what they go for.

BBB
They were after market recent manufacture and nothing special.
I have plenty of 1911 magazines but I figured if I could buy them at five bucks a piece, what the heck.

I was just wondering. A lot of aftermarket mags are expensive. BTW nobody makes there own mags. I think Colt uses Checkmate now but they have used others.

When I bought the Ballester Molina
It didn't have the original mag, but everything I have fits it. That is true of the RIA as well, in fact, I like the cheapskate clips I have purchased aftermarket better'n the original. I don't like that plastic crap hanging from the bottom. But the way the magazine is designed, if you take it off, the spring pops out.

Yeah I didn't like the ACT mag that came with my RI. I despise bumpers.
