1860 Army Not Firing Correctly
This past weekend, I shot my 1860 Army Uberti for the first time and a slight issue. I was told to get #10 percussion caps. With gun totally loaded, I pull hammer back and pulled trigger,....click... Gun not shoot. I would do this usually about two entire cylinder complete revolutions. Meaning, I would shoot 12 times with gun not firing. After all that, the third time for each load, then it would fire. Problem is with the procussion caps. Is the #10 caps, just a little bit to small for my specific gun??

I'd guess so. Try some #11s & if the problem goes away the #10 is too small.

As stated, just get number 11 caps. My ROA does the same thing with number 10 caps.

Caps too small. I'm assuming that they are #10 CCIs since they are the smallest in diameter available; in which case #10 or #11 Remington; #11 CCI; or RWS 1075 caps should fit better. You may have to try more than one other brand/size to find the right one for your revolver.
You could use a push stick to better seat them on the nipples til you get some larger caps. There is a good study of percussion caps here: http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/ind...c,39098.0.html

A #11 Remington will fit a fatter nipple cone than a #11 CCI cap. In other words, the next size up from a CCI#10 is a Remington#10 then the CCI#11, then the Remington#11. The Remington #10 cap fits a wider variety of nipple sizes than most caps since it expands as it is seated on the cone. Get a 3/8"dowel cut at a slight slant as a push stick. The back end of a BIC pen would also work.
