7mm rem mag loads!

This is really new to me. I have never hand loaded before. My neighbor use to do it and he wants to get back into it and he said he would be more then happy to load for whatever i wanted as long as i supplied. He is also showing me how to do it in case i want to get into it

I currently shoot 140 grain Remington soft points and Winchester supreme 160 grain accubonds. I get pretty good groups with both. I own a Remington model 700 BDL 24 inch barrel with a 1:9.5 twist rate. I mainly hunt Moose, black bear, caribou and whitetail.

I would like for some suggestion on Powders that work for you, primers, casings, bullets. I was thinking of sticking with accubonds but i started to think i should maybe reload something better such as Barnes. Wanted to know what you guys thoughts were? I know nothing about reloading and wanted to get some info on what works for you.

I would like to load two different bullets. Either 140 or 150 and a 160 grain.

If it were me, I'd pick a good 160g for the moose and whatever shot well in the 139-150g range for everything else. If the 160g Accubond shoots well, I see no reason to switch unless you just want something to experiment with. The Partition or the Barnes TSX would also be good choices (but not the only ones).

For those weight of bullets, I like Alliant Reloder 22. IMR 7828SSC and Hodgdon H4831 are other popular 7mm RM powders for those bullet weights. As for primers I've had good luck with regular Winchester WLR's and Federal 215 Magnums. I've only used Winchester brass, so I don't have anything to compare it to.

Take your neighbor up on his offer to show you how so you can learn to do it for yourself. But be forewarned, it's addicting!

I have good luck with Varget and 4350 for powders. I have also had good luck with Hornady 139 and 154 gr bullets. So far I have not found a decent combination with heavier bullets than that.

I'm not being a smart you-know-what but you might consider purchasing a reloading manual or two. You'll find all the information you will need to include the most effective powder (accuracy & hunting) for the particular grain bullet you select. I will share this with you because someone shared it with me. I use RE-22 with a 160gr pill with my 7mm Rem Mag Sendero. Winchester cases, Winchester Large Rifle Magnum primers, Federal 215s, and one other that I can't remember.

I've used H-4831 and IMR-7828 with 154 and 160gr bullets for many years. Nosler #6 has some IMR-4831 loads with 150gr that has me intrigued, stating a top velocity over 3200fps!
