getting an extra barrel, will it fit???

i have a 12 gauge pardner shotgun, a friend of mine has a tracker ll barrel to sell very resonable. i can get it for $50 and it has hardly been used. he told me it would fit my gun just fine, others have told me that it had to be fitted to my frame. i would like to if anyone has done this and if i can do it?, a gun smith i talked to said about 90% will work with no trouble about 5% will have space at the frame and should not be shot and the other 5% will just need the lever catch on the barrel filed lightly. thanks for any help

Borrow it from him and try it. If fits, buy it.

Some friend.

It sounds like he's just looking for a sucker, so he can get rid of it w/o consequences.

FWIW, You're not buying.....yet - you're simply checking for fit (or pass).

In my experience, even a stranger will allow such in a FTF meeting - take your receiver (only) along with you for the fit/try.

IIRC, and I think I do on this matter...

You will send the gun and barrel to NEF for fitting...

I do not know for sure on this but my fear would be...
On a used one if it was fitted to a gun and lost more material at hinge and breech than your gun needs, it might be "over cut" or what ever the correct term would be...

And to top it off, not all NEF barrels can be put on all frames...

In a nutshell, I would make contact with NEF and ask them directly before buying...

This link is to an NEF specific section of a different forum, I admit most of my knowledge came from reading these folks exploits adventures and "builds" of the NEF lineup...
