can you identify this rifle? Plains rifle, 46" overall, 30" octagon barrel. Lowell, Mass stamped on barrell. Sheldon stamped on hammer plate. Number 73 stamped in stock behind trigger guard. Appears to be less than 50 caliber. Am curious as to who made this gun and when it was made. Can find no other markings on the rifle. Thanks

Hi, Tommy,

FWIW, I can't find that name in any of my lists of old time gun makers. I wonder if it could be a modern gun.
