Dear People, Does anyone out there have the charge spec's on reloading the .45 super? I know the round is loaded from a .451 detonics case. Tom

data
If you visit the 1911 Forum you'll find a 45 Super data-thread.
45 Super = Alliant Power Pistol.

Buy your .45 Super brass from Starline. Don't bother trying to find and cut down 451 Detonics.
Weshoot2 and I disagree on powder. AA#7 is the most efficient powder for .45 Super IMHO, especially for 230 grain bullets. Published data is still available on the web. My handloads are slightly less than full-bore Super, as you may have a hard time finding .451/.452 slugs that will hold together above 1200 FPS. Of the commercially available, Sierra Power Jackets and Hornady XTP's hold up the best. Mike

try this link...
http://www.realguns.com/loads/45Super.htm I like Powerpistol powder and the Barnes 185gr solid copper bullet. Powerpistol has the best pressure/velocity ratio in this case size and the Barnes 185gr. will hold up at any handgun velocity and give DEEP penetration and .90 caliber expansion at super velocities. |

neither
I don't load for 45 Super.
My "preference" for Power Pistol in the 45 Super comes only because certain manufacturers have admitted to using Power Pistol for their ammo. AA7 can be a good powder. (Oddly, I have some but never use it.)

I know what you mean. I have 1/2 of a pound of Power Pistol that will probably get loaded in .40 S&W.... Someday.

P P
Might try some Power Pistol under medium-to-heavy lead in 45 Colt; can be nice at 1000-1100fps.

Unique WC820 Lil Gun PP will do nothing more for me than these three can do... To keep this thread on track, I have done some experiments with AA#9 and .45 Super... Unfortunately, you run out of case capacity before you exceed what AA#7 can do... Very low SD with #9. Mike
