@reteach

Likewise, I'm a big a fan of the .32 caliber as well. I like the 32 Long and H&R Magnum equally well.The details you shared about accuracy issues with the .32 ACP in a revolver and your preferences for .32 H&R Mag ammo, like the Black Hills 85 gr JHP, are quite insightful.

Thanks for sharing your load data on the .32 S&W Long. : )

What kind of accuracy did you achieve with the two particular loadings?

Also, do you prefer one grain weight over the other in terms of accuracy?
(85 gr vs 100 gr) Was there a noticeable difference?

Lastly, what is the barrel length of your S&W Model 30?

Thanks,
GEM

Consider the Fiocchi .32 S&W long, either the 100 gr LWC or the Seller & Beliot100gr LWC.

Well, I think we have established that bullet placement is far more important than caliber. That being the case I would have to say that the 32long is plenty if you can hit what you're shooting at. I've seen a lot of cattle killed with 1 shot from a 22 L.R. and my 30-1 holds 6 rounds compared to a 36 which hold 5 rounds.

Model 30 is 3-inch barrel with B-C gap pass 0.003 / hold 0.004". Both loads shoot inch groups at 50 feet from the revolver and sub 2-inch at 50 yards from Contender pistol fitted with strain gage for prassure test. Accuracy difference between bullet weights not significant. Expansion better with the 85. Penetration better with 100-grain.
