slide refinishing question

i have a sig 239 and was wanting to refinish the slide in a SS look finish. my question is could i have the slide powder coated in the color i want ? would it hold up ?

Yes. You can have it painted. No, it won't hold up-at least not well.
Have the slide hard chromed, and do it right.

And a coating won't really look like stainless steel anyway. It'll look like what it is. Hard chromium is best.

Just have it bead blasted. Since the slide is Stainless, you can get a matte finish, or get it polished.
