Metallic Sights Lenses
Quote:
They're allowed most of the time with metallic sights on most rifle types. Details explained in the NRA Rule Books: https://competitions.nra.org/competi...es/rule-books/ Last edited by Bart B.; November 24, 2019 at 02:48 PM. |

On the rear sight, Neil Jones was selling those to put older eyes focus on the front sight if you don't have shooting glasses for the purpose. I suppose it might speed sight acquisition in a practical match for which your shooting glasses might just have conventional distance correction. For iron sight long-range matches, I would anticipate the axis-adjustable shooting glasses being better (and a lot easier to clean).

Its Bob Jones. I, too, sometimes get him confused with Neil Jones who makes reloading dies. Shot many matches with him.
http://www.bjonessights.com/ Those lenses help focus and sharpen target bullseye and front sight images in the eye. Sometimes slightly magnified so its easier to align them. Focal lengths of those lenses is calculated by dividing 1 diopter (1 meter or about 40 inches) by the lens diopter value. A 0.50 (1/2) diopter lens has a 2 meter focal length, about 80 inches. Bart, Lot of things being made for Palma rifle.
https://rilesmachine.com/products/ They do same thing in archery with aperture. You can get reticle on custom lens. Now I know what you shot that small group with scope vs your match rifle. 6 AM

Reticles are not allowed in metallic sights with corrective lenses.

Yep! Bob Jones. Thanks for the fix. I crossed them up for the funny reason that my Dad bought one of Bob's lenses for a match AR the same year I bought a tool of Neil's for primer pocket uniforming. Both purchases happened on Commercial Row.

I've never noticed focus shifting between the target and the front sight.
