How to touch up a Zeiss Conquest

I bought a used Zeiss Conquest knowing there was a little rash on the mag ring. I cleaned it with alcohol but the Birchwood Casey aluminum black will not cover up the scratches like on my other scopes.

Obviously Zeiss uses some sort of alloy in their aluminum tubes so I was wondering what’s the best cover up to use. Thanks.

Live with it or paint it. Although a black sharpie doesn't look bad. At least for a while.
