Ruger Redhawk Grips
I love shooting my 44 magnum Redhawk. I'm new to 44 magnum and it's quite an adrenaline rush every time I bring it to the range. My hands get sweaty and I have a hard time maintaining my grip with heavy loads. It slides around a little bit.
It originally had the hogue bantam grip which felt like holding a potato. I like the hogue monogrip on my GP100 so I got it for my Redhawk. It's much better than the bantam but it still gets slippery (I don't have that problem with the GP100, I guess it just fits my hand better). With a glove on my shooting hand I can handle it just fine, even with my max loaded handloads. But I don't always plan on having a glove on when I carry it so I would like to practice that way. Can anyone recommend a grip that has some more traction and maybe covers the backstrap?

"...max loaded handloads..." You work up to that or just jump to max loads? Anyway, it's not the revolver or the grips that are making you sweat. I'd think about wood grips and reduce the load.

I have a set of Uncle Mike's Butler Creek grips for mine, upon recommendation from another member way back. A huge improvement over the Hogue originals.
They do everything you've described.

I know how to work up a handload. I shoot a variety of loads from mild to wild. I like wild better. I'm just asking for some grip advice, not load advice thanks.

I got mine from Numrich about 5 years ago.
I'd then say eBay is the next bet... Shame if that is true as they really are good in my limited experience

I have a Redhawk wearing a set of Uncle Mikes grips. It covers the backstrap and I find it comfortable even when shooting heavier loads. They are no longer produced, but I suspect a limited number of used ones come up for sale at least occasionally.

Nice looking guns. I've been looking at grips from www.handgungrips.com and www.altamontco.com not sure what they ave for Redhawk.
There is a 44 magnum in my future enjoy them. |

I ended up getting the pachmayr presentation grips. They are about perfect.
