Puma M-92

I have been looking at the Puma M-92 for cowboy shooting. The best price I have found this rifle in, when chambered in .45 LC is $458 , but there is a version of the gun chambered in 454 casull that is available for $398 Since the one chambered in 454 casull will also chamber 45 LC is there any disadvantage to buying the one chambered in 454? Would accuracy be any different?

Edit: (I do realize that the more expensive rife is probably more expensive because of the stainless finish, but I can't find it without)

Am I correct that you are looking at the Rossi manufactured rifles (regardless of the importer)?

Taurus/Braztech is now importing the Brazilian made 1892's, and gave them a price reduction.

I think the '92 round barrel in blue should sell for @ $400-$425-ish at a dealer, with the stainless being only slightly more. Octagon, case coloring and brass receivers are more.

I bought one a while back and paid $425+ tax for a stainless 20" .357, brand new. I'd give Bud's a call and ask them when they'll have in the .45 Colts for the same price as the .357's...They have the .357 Stls for $452. shipped and no tax.

The Puma in 454 is the best deal I have found, but I'm not married to the idea. The Rossi rifles I have seen so far have been a few dollars more than the Puma. I would also consider going with a 357 if I found the right price on one that will qualify for cowboy shooting. I might actually prefer the 357 since I am trying to get my wife and daughter interested, and they are a bit recoil shy.

I'd recommend going for the .357 or .45 Colt over the .454 unless the .454 is a "dedicated" hunting gun- the .454 will not feed .45 Colts from the magazine.

I've got one of the puma m92 with the brass reciever in 45 colt, and I think for the money it is a darn good buy. I paid right at 400 for it. the problem with the rossi that was listed here is it only has an 8 round tube and the cowboy action shooting requires 10.

Yes, the 16" barrel only holds nine rounds.

Wow! That 44 mag is $78 less than the best price I have seen on a 92 chambered in 45LC!

I have the Rossi Puma in 45 Colt with the 20" octagonal barrel. I'm not a cowboy shooter, but great western songs run through my head while shooting it. I love that gun. Paid about $450 for mine a couple years ago. Got the case hardened receiver.

I'm going to put a fold down tang peep sight on it to see if I can get accurate enough at 100 yards to hunt it. I have no idea why, just seems like an interesting idea as I get closer to 60.

I load it light and play with it at the pistol range. A little red dot under a 250 gr slug is a hoot.
