exploding targets

Don't know if I can talk about this, it totally legal
Since the price of buying exploding targets went sky high, has anyone
Figured out the formula,to make them yourself.
From what I found and understand it's made with ammonium Nitrate,
Nine parts ammonia 34-00-00 to one part dark aluminum dust.
I have all the ingredients, but the al I have is bright and used to make bottle
Rockets.I haven't tried it out yet.
Being a binary explosion, it's safe to handle,so formula I gave should work, but the difference in the al might make a slow burn instead of fast.
Does anybody make their own,or have any input.

its super easy, I just buy the aluminum powdr of ebay because its a pain to make. ill post pics of my recipe if the thread doesn't get cut in a couple minutes. I don't think there is a legal issue with it, but it may be a local thing. I don't buy the fertilizer anymore though since most I find has sulphur or other binders that hinder it's performance. I just buy bulk instant ice packs. about 4 packs is a pound and it'll run you about 1.50 a pound.

amazon, used to be like 8 bucks, but that was a year ago and I still haven't used it all

these ice packs are dirt cheap and have the most nitrate than other brands

I just measure out 5% AL powder to ammonium

viola!! git er dun....and be safe blowing up televisions and such

as for your question on the AL, the color doesn't matter, it's just how fine it is. it should be fine like corn starch, the dark color is just added with graphite usually to prevent oxidization....I think anyways
