Hard finish
I hard my S&W model 57 (41 mag) sent to Armoloy (Phila PA) when NIB some 40 years ago.
The finish is just as good today than it was back then. It's a silver satin matte chromium coating that adheres to metal like grim death.

Something to keep in mind, too, depending on the type of refinishing:
If you are planning on any trigger work, do it before it's refinished, and it'll be at least as smooth as before, and the work on the trigger will last longer (less wear.) |
