Only Iron Rules we have are hitting the target and practicing safe gun handling. I recall seeing a photo in one of the gun magazines showing a custom gun grip order for a shooter who had lost his trigger finger and I can see where injury, arthritis of some other affliction
would render the index finger unsuitable.

That is how a friend of mine shoots. He lost his index finger to a venomous snake and had to learn to use the middle.
