Guys,

I'd like to see what you have accumulated over the years in terms of Black Powder and Cowboy single action revolvers, repros as well as originals. Since this is for my education, please take clear, large, and focused pictures, and add the proper captions to identify your pieces. I know the basic guns, but there are so many manufacturers and so many models that I don't know about, and I'm sure that's the case for the newbs like me out there. I have searched the forum for a gallery of guns as proposed, but I couldn't find one on this forum. If I missed it, please disregard this thread. If I didn't, could the admins make this a sticky? Here's my modest collection to start. Thanks all in advance.

FWIW, the 5 shot .36 is a 1862 pocket police revolver.

I'll play along. These are just my BP's. 1st one bought in 1974.

Left row: Colt patent '51 Navy, Uberti 1860 Army .44, Hawes .36 Navy and DGW Walker.
Right side: Ruger Old Army, .49 Pocket .31 cal (That I built from a kit in 1978) and an unidentified Italian .36

.36 Remington brass frame made by PR imported by FIE.

58 Remington New Army made by Rigarmi. I bought it new in 69. It's been defarbed and antiqued.

I only have one SAA right now and its an original Great Western 44 special.If things get better I plan on getting a few more.Dave

CAS guns, from the top: Pair of 2nd Gen C series 1851 Navies, Pair of Navy Arms/Uberti Frontiersman, Pair of Uberti 1861 Navies, Pair of Pietta .44 cal engraved Marshall model '51 Navies, Uberti stainless steel 1851 Navy, Pietta .36 cal engraved Marshall model '51 Navy, Pair of Pietta Lawman model 1860 Armies w/half fluted cylinders.

Pair of Uberti Leech and Rigdons that have been defarbed & remarked as CH Rigdon Augusta Revolvers with 12 stop cylinders.

Question for Hawg and DrLaw. I'm looking to get the Pietta Remmy 44, and there are 3 models available at Cabelas: the brass frame, the black frame, and the case hardened frame with the checkered grip (Hawg's). So what's the black frame made of? Is it out of steel that was blued? Thanks.

If you are in to authenticity, Remington only made the black (blued) steel framed models in the 1860s and '70s. The others are fantasy models; the case hardened steel frame model (it is pretty, my brother has one) and the least expensive brass framed model never existed until recently. If you are serious about getting one from Cabelas and shooting it, stay away from the brass frame, they stretch over time from firing and your revolver cylinder will become loose in the frame causing misfires. It doesn't happen overnight, but if you shoot a lot it will within a couple of years. Plus you will NOT be able to use a conversion cylinder with it should you ever want to get one.

The brass frame will last for many, many years if loads are kept light. It won't take many moderately heave loads to beat one to death tho. I read somewhere that some of the last 58's were case hardened and I've seen original white grips that were checkered so it's not too much of a stretch. The CCH model has the smoothest action and the lightest hammer of any Remington I've ever seen and I've seen quite a few of them.
