How to obtain a C&R license?

I found CZ-82 for sale by J&G, there for I would like to obtain a C&R license.
I have tried to order the application form from ATF but I am not getting any thing from them.
This is the site I ordered the forms from:

How long does it take?
Is there a better place to get the forms from?

IIRC I ordered the forms in August, received and submitted them in September, and received the 03FFL on October. However, with the current weapons-ban scare, I'm sure the number of applications has gone up and slowed the whole process.

Unfortunately for you, CA only allows C&R long guns that are over 50 yrs old to be received by an 03-FFL (C&R) holder ... both handguns and long guns that are under 50 yrs of age must be shipped to an 01-FFL (a dealer) and I believe that they then need to go through the whole CA pain/cost of DROS and waiting period. You will notice that many of the wholesalers actually state on their website that they only ship C&R handguns to CA if they are going to/through an 01-FFL ...

No point in getting the C&R license, just as well buy it trough a FFL

C&R firearms all don't have to be 50 years old to purchase with the license.
As long as the firearm is on the list, you can purchase it. For example, all Manuhrin PPK series are on the list, and lots of them are less than 50 years old. Lots of commeratives are on the list, and you can petition to have a firearm listed by it's serial number if there is some significance to it.

HHB: What you say applies to the rest of the country. Sadly, in CA, the rules are more restrictive. If you take a gander at the state firearm laws that the BATF sends you, you'll notice that CA has hundreds of pages ... that is why so many dealers won't ship ANYTHING to CA ... they just don't want to take the time to verify what is OK and what isn't.

I just let my C&R expire after 6 years. Everytime i found a good deal on something I wanted the retailer wouldn't ship to CA. Just my $0.02, but I found it worked out better for me just to be loyal to one local shop who has passed along some discounts to me for repeat business.

I never did understand why I'm living here... oh yes the wife.
She has kids here, she wants to live near by them.

One of these days I might just have to leave with out her.

With a little luck the state might just go bankrupt and nobody would be left to enforce the law... yeah right

I got my C&R pack today (about 2 weeks after the license got in). Included is the firearms record. Question about this: do I need to log all the guns I already have, or do I just log the guns I buy with the license?

As I understand it, you need to log ALL acquisitions and dispositions of C&R firearms that take place while your license is valid. It doesn't matter if you actually USE your license to acquire something or not ... now that you are licensed, you need to log anything you pick up OR dispose of (sell, gift, donate, trade, etc) that would qualify as C&R. If you are in a state that allows private transactions face to face, then those are also included in the ALL that we are talking about ... as would purchases from the CMP.

Again, this is how I understand it, you need to read the rules for yourself and decide what they mean. This is not legal advice and if it were, it would likely be worth only half of what you paid for it

My dad once told me "Get every license or certificate you could from the state" Once you have it you are more likely to be "Grand-fathered" if any kind of freeze or restriction hits. vts - Get the C + R. If it takes 2 or 3 months so what. (Mine only took 6 weeks, the change of address 4 weeks) If you don't apply and wait 3 months you still won't have the license.

I was interested in getting a few C&R handguns. Butt it seems the "Golden State" "The Land Of The Not So Free" "The Left Coast" does not list handguns as C&R. So the whole point of getting it is lost.

I migrated from Norway to California a few years ago. I was exited to come to the land of the free and the home of the brave. Also the home of the 2A... The right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

I can not describe the disappointment I felt when I realized that the 2A is in better shape in Norway then it is in California.

That goes without saying..I just moved to California from Washington State, there I only had to pay a $25 dollar shipping fee and wait for a 10 minute phone then I went home with my new rifle, here i have to wait 10 friggin days!

No, not "extremely lenient", just closer to actually following the 2nd Amendment than other places.

Alaska is also one of two states with the least infringement on bearing arms. It, and Vermont, explicitly allow carrying by any non-felon--no permit, fee, tax, or other form of government permission required to exercise your rights.

I myself am a fan of the northwest, but best of luck getting your hands on that CZ. Luckily for me (in Colorado) I hardly have a use for a C&R.
