7mm-08 w/ RCBS 145 SIL-GC bullet

I am thinking of buying a 7mm-08 rifle and using the RCBS 145 SIL GC cast bullet as well as a RCBS 168 SP-GC. Can anyone give me load date from the RCBS Cast Bullet manual for these two bullets, please so I can determine if this will be feasible for me?

I don't have that book, but the Lyman Cast Bullet Handbook has the RCBS 145 SIL listed and the image shows the gas check. They give the most accurate load as being their starting load of IMR4198 at 19.5 grains. Velocity was 1683 fps from a 24" pressure/velocity test barrel in a universal receiver.

They don't list a 168-grain cast bullet, but their 160-grain bullet apparently liked their starting load of Accurate 5744 best, at 18.0 grains and about 1600 fps from the same barrel. QuickLOAD thinks knocking that load down about half a grain, to 17.5 grains will be a close to a pressure match for the 5% heavier and slightly longer 168-grain bullet.

If you want more velocity and have less concern for accuracy, the maximum loads were 27 grains of IMR4198 for the lighter bullet at 2289 fps, and 26 grain of 5744 for the 160-grain bullet, and which I would also reduce by about 25.3 grains (same percentage reduction) for the 168-grain bullet.

I thank you for your response. I have a Lyman cast bullet manual. Sadly they no longer use old standby powders such as Red Dot, Unique, 2400 (as they used to)....which I prefer to try first. If they don't shoot accurately, I will then use what they suggest. Apparently too many loaders double charged loads and Lyman decided not to include any using the faster burning shotgun powders. After I charge cast rifle cases, I do a flashlight test to ensure no double charges, same as I do with pistol reloads. Granted, it is more difficult to do with a bottleneck cartridge case, but it can (should) be done.
