What kind of AK is this?

This rifle has all kinds of things going on with it. Bullets attached to the sides? The stock.. even the dimensions of the receiver look unusual. Any idea?

Looks like something cobbled together at the Khyber Pass.

Interesting...thanks for sharing.

It looks like it was put together in a gunshop somewhere in Peshawar, Pakistan; which I believe that the city has been known for famous gunshops that build AK's from parts.

The soldier look's Pakistani, though I can't verify that.

The receiver is a stamped long action, that resembles my Romanian PSL in 7.62x54R. The barrel has probably been replaced with a shorter one. One of my fellow shooters at our range has a 8mm long barreled AK designated squad rifle. The round the soldier has mounted alongside the barrel looks like an 8mm. The AK magazine looks like a 40 rounder. The cloth wrapped around the buttstock is an obvious recoil absorber.

Might be a lucky charm amulet that he has attached to his bayonet.

The lense is making it look distorted, it isn't, just a standard rifle.
As for the doo-dads, it's not at all uncommon to find such in various parts of the world.
This rifle (and its owner) have been discussed at length on AK forums for years.

Looks like he means business...what with his finger on the trigger. I do like that red tassel he has attached to his trigger guard.

What's with the bungee cord around the magazine?

Tactical tassels are all the rage....I'm surprised you don't have one, all the cool guys do

As for the bungee....speed reloads.
Pull the empty mag out, give it a flick, and the fresh one bounces away then snaps right into place, like John Wick. It's much more effective though if you paint dots all over the mag, as it spins the colors dazzle the enemy allowing you to advance while they're distracted.

The markings on the recievers and bayonets are almost identical... right down to the colors of specific dots. Bullet locations look similar as well.

It is just a Afghanistan Tribal AK. Lots of them out there.

In fact, a couple of our Terps would pick their AK's based on how decorated they were instead of functionality especially in the first few years of OEF. We had set a condition for the Terps that any AK they carried had to be checked out by us before they could use it in combat.

He looks sharp with the buttoned up BDU blouse and the Geranium really ties it all together.

Oh haha, he must’ve aged a lot in between photos.

I was focusing on the weapon and never gave the owner a second look.

Explains the similarities of the rifle lol. Crawling back into my hole now.

I’ve been to the gun makers bazaar in Rahlwilpindi, where they can mage you a 1911 by hand with only simple hand tools in about a day.
I believe they can do the same for an AK.

"...not at all uncommon to find such in various parts of the world..." Yep. Just like the tacks decorating Native American muskets, etc. from the very first trades with The Hudson's Bay Co. in the 17th Century.
"...he means business..." That guy has been shooting since he could stand up by himself.
