Please help identify old rifle

I recently purchased an old muzzleloader at an estate sale. When I looked it over I could only find a serial number on the barrel (115683). On the underneath side of the nipple the word SPAIN is stamped. There are no other markings however, what little engraving there is appears to be hand crafted. The barrel has a brownish patina and is octagon shape.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to be able to tell my husband something about the Christmas present he's getting...
