Do you have a custom AR build?
My first post.
I used to be on the shooting team in high school. Competed a little in the Army until I got deployed. Haven't competed since, but want to, so I built a couple new ARs. Who's built their own AR and what parts did you use? Here's mine: New Frontier Polymer Lower Stag Arms Lower Parts Kit American Triggers Gold Trigger Double Star Skeleton Stock JP Silent Capture Buffer Spring JP Low Mass BCG BCM Charging Handel DPMS Flat-top Upper Receiver Krieger .223 26” 1-7.7 twist Bull Barrel JP adjustable gas block Samson 12.37 Rail New Frontier Polymer Lower Stag Arms Lower kit & trigger A2 stock & buffer/spring RGuns upper RGuns Charging Handle Rguns BCG AR-Stoner 5.56 16" 1-9 Twist GRG Mfg. Low Profile Gas Block Samson 7" Rail In the works: RGuns Complete lower DPMS Upper AR-Stoner .300 Blackout 16" 1-8 twist |

Welcome to TFL.
I lack the technical knowledge to assemble a lower receiver, or else I'd build one myself. Sounds like a neat set-up, just the same.

If you're military then you've broken down the M16/M4, cleaned and reassembled many times. I know putting together a lower is a little more than the military allows most troops do but still, it should be a piece of cake. Many of us have the necessary tools in the garage.
Now the upper requires extra tools but most people buy a barreled upper to avoid those installation issues. So far I haven't run into any major issues with my "custom" ARs. Most folks don't either. |

Sure I've broken down lots of M16s and M4s. I can do that blindfolded.
Still, for me it's a matter of trust. I trust S&W to build one better than I can. They build it, I shoot it. It works for me.

I look at it another way, while S&W can build thousands of ARs better than I'm set up to do - know I can build one better than they can (mine!)
For example, I started with a stripped S&W M&P-15 lower built up with Daniel Defense and BCM parts as described above. But I know building's not for everyone, and there's more than one way to get a good AR. |

I'm actually working on a couple right now:
Colt LE6920 built lower Bison Armory 18" 6.8spc barrel YHM freefloated fore end PSA stripped upper receiver Burris PEPR with Vortex 4.5-12x50 wife's rifle: PSA stripped lower PSA LPK PSA M-4 stock kit PSA stripped upper receiver AR Stoner barrel Vortex Strikefire Budget range toy: ATI Omni built lower AR Stoner barrel PSA stripped upper Hogue fore end MagPul BUIS Don't be afraid of these rifles. They are quite easy to assemble. Think my next upper build will be a SBR |
