Locked Topics... can they be cleared?

Hello to the moderators. Great job holding the peace over this last week of craziness.

I was just wondering if "locked" threads could be deleted to clean up the clutter a little?

I would like to delete the locked threads and I have done so in the past. However, those who were following the thread, posting to it or who originated the thread then ends up putting three more threads on TFL looking for the "missing" thread. Argh!

As George says, they'll fade away (while providing directions to the threads' new locations).
