Coyote Night Hunt
Which gun would be better 12 gauge rifle style fiber optic sights and 00 Buckshot, or a .22 with a 4X10 scope?

I don't night hunt anymore, but I would take the shotgun. A buddy of mine said he missed one with his rifle last week, at night, about 20 feet away. Said he wished he had the shotgun.

Yeah I'd take the shotgun also, don't count on that fiber optic sight, it's nothing more than a bead sight at night. I would give thought to some smaller shot maybe #4 buck, 00 seems a bit much, unless of course you're mad at them for some reason

There is glow in the dark paint you could put on your sites. I'd love a little .223 with a night vision scope GIII.

I've only used a scope-sighted rifle for night-time coyote shooting. So far, never a problem...
I dunno. Few shots beyond 70-ish yards; mostly 20 to 40 yards. Art |

Don't forget that at night with a shotgun, the tendency is to shoot high. Folks get the muzzle high so they can see the front sight better. I saw an excited fella miss the whole back end of a Chevy Blazer, one time.

Art, I have an ole '81 Blazer for bouncing along the trap line. I always think it is a good thing when someone misses it on the shot.
