GO TO GUN
Was wondering what everyone's go to gun is at night. Mine is a Taurus Judge, and a Mossberg 12 guage pump. Both in the bedroom.
I live in the city, so leave the rifles and I have two to use in case things really go bad , a 38/357 Rossi 16 inch barrel carbine, and a Henry 45-70 for if things get really big |

Go to gun in he middle of the night?
"no name" Chinese made 12 ga SxS coach gun. Decades old now. Works reliably and I also have a large and very LOUD dog who doesn't like strangers 2 or 4 legged. I live miles out of town, and several hundred yards away from the closest neighbor. (there will probably be a Colt .38 in my pocket as well, as "backup)

I carry a beretta 92fs, or it’s within reach.
I keep some ARs around the house when I’m home also… But, I have a Great Pyrenees that screens my visitors at night, haha… I have plenty of time to select a gun leisurely.

Whatever I’ve been carrying is usually in the nightstand with a Mossberg 500 and an AR-15 in the closet.

I'm guessing you mean for self protection. I haven't carried for decades.
I used to keep a Montgomery Ward 20ga loaded with goose shot by the bed. Don't anymore. IMHO firearms for self defense are mostly a fashion choice and thank goodness for that. |

The other day, a pack of coyotes had a deer cornered just inside the forest line near my house and was making one heck of a commotion…
Finally I had enough, so I put on my snake boots, chose a mossberg and emptied it into to the creek bank behind my house and everyone decided to go home… that’s the most I’ve needed a gun in a while lol, turned out to be a quiet afternoon

Smith & Wesson 410 in .40 S&W and my S&W 3000 12 gauge police cruiser.
The handgun changes out every once in awhile.

Kahr K9 for 2-legged intruders. AR-15 with night vision for Coyotes that get too close to my house.
Why the Kahr K9? Because 1) the wife can shoot it easily and safely; 2) I can shoot it as good as anything else its size 3) its easy to get to and perfectly reliable; 4) I don't have to keep it locked up and if it gets stolen (which isn't likely where I'm at), I'll just report it to the cops and not cry over it. It's just so much easier for me to grab a pistol and clear each room of my house if I need to rather than go for the AR. Yes, If a noise in the night wakes me up - I'M LAZY!!! And, tired. I just want to check out everything and get back to bed. Oh, I keep a .22LR by the door for varmints. Just for the heck of it, I shot a round at my burn-barrel (can always use more air-vents) to see what would happen. I was super-surprised to see it go through both sides of the steel drum and the hole it made on the far side of the barrel looked like it was shot with a 9mm. Made me realize that .22lr out of a rifle is actually a formidable round. Muzzle energy is not too far off from that of an average 38 special round fired from a revolver.
