Depends on the day, I live 15mins away from a private range so I don't feel the need to take everything I have anymore. Back when I had to use a public range an hour away I took every gun I had on every trip!

Sometimes just one rifle or pistol, ammo, and a chronograph to check loads.

Sometimes multiple rifles, shotguns, pistols, sandwiches and drinks, or even a grill.

An average trip would see me take:

Laser range finder
Targets (the Dirty Bird™ or Shoot & See™ type)
Pitcher of sweet tea
Sandwiches/pickled sausage
Shooting rest (Caldwell ZeroMax)
Spotting scope and tripod
Chronograph and tripod
Leatherman Tool
Range gate key (I have forgotten it several times...)
.22LR to shoot while waiting on centerfire to cool between shots
Ammo (also has been forgotten...)
Hat ( I'm normally not a hat guy)
Shooting buddy (optional, but fun to have)

The spotting scope is the one thing I would say was my Ah-Ha moment, I wish I had bought one years ago.

Rifle or Two - I not big on getting a dozen long guns dirty.

Deployment bag - I don't go to the public range, so I take a supplies bag just in case.

Gongs. - Got to have reactive targets.

Target stand - carboard, legs, and paper targets incase I need to punch holes.

Hmm, yesterday I went out, took;
two handguns,
about 300 rounds for one and 50 for the other,
printed targets,
range bag with sundry tools/tape/hearing protection/etc,
target stand,
two bottle of water,
Happy face.

Next trip will be similar but it will be two rifles with ammo for both, (easy, being same caliber),

Range is about 20 minutes away, and I find I have more fun concentrating on being accurate with one or two guns with various reloads than just blasting to blast...like I did back 20 years ago.

Some things I take besides guns, ammo, and targets as well as basic eyes and ears...

• I do try to use official targets for the distance and discipline I am shooting, i.e. 25-yard Timed Fire Pistol targets.
• A pair of ear plugs for UNDER the headphones when shooting in confined areas and especially indoors.
• A "Leatherman" type multi-tool with sockets and other bits.
• Thin gloves -- I like 'em to shoot for comfort and less of my sweaty palms and fingers on my gun metal and wood.
• I have taken to bringing cleaning equipment for pistols and shtoguns to the range. With the table top there it is very convenient to clean pistols. I once thought the little packets of cleaning wipes were dopey, but, they are cool if not expensive for a quick but decent job. I use them for my league shoots and only seriously dismantle and clean my shotgun additionally with a Bore Snake at the end of the season (and maybe once during).

What I take to the range is dependent on what I intend to accomplish. Certain things always get in the range box. Of course, guns and ammo.

Stapler, targets, hearing protection, a small Pachmayr screwdriver set, a notepad, pens, those always go.

If I'm going to the public range, they have great targets supplied by LDWF, so I use theirs. If I'm going to a private range, I make sure I've got plenty of photocopied targets. I usually get my targets from online sources. US Palma used to be a good source, but I find tonight that the link is broken. However, they're all available at Gamecalls.net. I like the LR Scope Target B for scope work and the 600 reduced to 100 for iron sights. It's easy to print one out and stop at someplace that does photocopy work and run a hundred or so.

Sometimes, going to a private range I take my portable benchrest. Sometimes I take my chronograph, sometimes I take target stands.

I spend quite a bit of time on the ARNG range on Eglin AFB with a local Combat MP Company training for redeployment, as I assist on the pistol range, I've found a box of band-aids, adhesive tape and liquid band-aid are quite handy to have around, blisters, cuts, scapes etc... maybe more activity here than a "normal" shooting range, but nice to have if you need it.

200+ rounds loaded into G-19 or G35 mags. Order up Double Bullseye targets. Send them downrange 10 yards. Load and make ready. Drop the target/range barrier in front of me (certified to do draw and shoot) Shoot and tear the targets up. Replace and re-shoot as necessary. Clean up brass and go home.

I have dedicated range boxes for each of my shooting activities-rifle, pistol, rimfire and blackpowder. At a minimum each contains:
1. Ear muffs
2. Ear Plugs
3. Targets
In addition, the rifle box contains:
1. Stapler and staples
The black powder box contains
1. Dedicated powder flask and spouts
The rimfire box contains
1. All my magazines for my rimfire rifles that take them.
2. Rimfire ammunition-several brands.
My practice is-one firearm-one caliber.

Good point on the Stapler. I quit stapling and went to those Black office BINDER clamps to hold cardboard to the firring strips. It's so nice not messing with staples anymore.

Am I the only one who patches his target? I take target centers and black and buff sticky spots. They go in the same compartment as my spare staples.

My range is my pasture.Forget the cows and horses,i have human and deer shaped targets! I typically go through about 50 rounds every time i shoot,which almost every day.Just look at my signature to see what i take.

I take a spotting scope, chronograph, sand bags if you don't have a good rest, targets, tape, boxes to put the targets on, a cleaning rod with patches/bore brush and solvent if your wanting to clean after every series of groups. I also bring a range finder that has a compensator program, so I can make needed adjustments on the turret at long distance or various angles.

All my range gear stays in my car... all the time... three handguns(plus the two I carry)...four or five rifles...targets,,sandbags,,eye protection,,,ear muffs,,range bag,,,plenty of ammo in several calibers.

i typically go with my roommate or a buddy from work; i always bring whatever gun(s) i have with me as do my shooting buddies, so there is usually from 2 to 6 guns between us.

we'll typically meet up at a walmart to buy some preshooting ammo and targets and such, but i throw all my stuff in my old surplus ruck sack and thats it

This is a typical list if I'm shooting my rifles. If I'm planning to shoot my hand guns only, the list shrinks a bit.
I bring a high powered spotting scope, 2 tripods, chronograph, a variety of targets for varrying distances, sand bags, tape, ear plugs, protective glasses, plenty of ammunition, and a note book. I shoot on public land, not at a range, so I also bring a sturdy fold up table.

sorry, forgot from earlier post, but we quit using staplers some years back, cardboard or muslin is tacked on the target frames and we use 3M Foam Fast spray adhesive. It works great, just quick spray around the edges of the target and put it up. If there is little, or no wind, just spray the corners. After a lot of shooting, you may need to spray a little more of the back surface of your targets if the wind is blowing through that big hole you created around the 9-10 ring......

Aside from whatever bullet launcher[s] I may be using that day, I always take the following: Hearing protection [both the foam plugs and also headphones, I like to use both simultaneously], eye protection, and as much ammo as I can afford. The range usually has targets and anything else I could need.
