Colt Diamondback year of production?

Is there information available that shows year of production for Diamondback serial numbers? My limited search has turned up nothing for this model.
Thanks,
mac

Yes. Find R.L. Wilson's book on Colt's date of manufacture. Post the first three or four digits and I'll date it for you.

Thanks BAD.......,
The serial number is PO274X with a large U below it. Gun is new to me and 98%+ and a definite keeper. All the writing is gold accented, even under grips, and someone told previous owner it was anniversary model. I think it was a gold pen job.
