Shot The S&W 617 For Steel Challenge Today

Not my best day but I sure did have fun today shooting my S&W 617 during out monthly Steel Challenge Match.

As long as it took to get use to the red dot sights, I can see having to spend a lot of time dry firing to get use to irons.

I could see my misses before I shot them but was in a too fast to go zone that I didn't just watch the front sight and hit the target. Our last stage was Smoke And Hope and I nailed it for me. One shot one hit per target and I had a decent score.

I used my DS-10 Speed Loaders throughout the match. I used Federal HV Gold Ammo and didn't have one failure. I still need to focus on that front sight to make sure I get my hits. When I did I had one for one hits on the stages.

Cool. Those seem to be some yuuuge grips!
I've got the 4" M617 on the list. I can't shoot my M63 J-frame worth a flip.

"...sure did have fun..." That's what steel plates are mostly about. So are/were bowling pins.
"...time dry firing to get use to irons..." Is about sight picture and breathing. It'll help you with your need to focus on that front sight. Dry firing is kind of fun too. Door knobs at the end of a reasonable lit hall way make good aiming points.
Red dots are not irons though.
"...used my DS-10 Speed Loaders..." Get some snap caps to practice the reloading.

I've been watching videos of the new revolver guys smoking down the stages. Brings back memories of when I was a Master Class shooter. Getting old now but I still remember what to do, just have to do the work on the dry fire to do it again.
