9mm Trying to Keep it Simple

I'm trying to put together 3 guns that all use 9mm. Prefer 2 handguns and 1 rifle all 9mm to KEEP IT SIMPLE. Also the 9mm to save $ on ammo and carry a larger inventory of ammo. Of course all guns semi auto and med to high magazine capacity. Ideas anyone, Thanks.

Can't help you with the rifle but for 2 handguns consider:

SW 5906 (about $350) full siz 15 round mag and is the best shooting 9mm I have ever handled. Amazing accuracy, built like a tank (and looks good to boot!)

Kel Tec p11 (about $300) sub compact with 11 round mag. Not really a compariable siz gun with such high capacity.

This will give you a well made full size and sub compact and here s the best part.....the p11 can take the 5906 mags!!!

At at those prices you can go all out on the rifle

I have been kicking around the idea of a 9mm carbine but I haven't really decided on one - I am leaning toward getting a used Ruger Police 9. I keep hearing rumors that Glock is coming out with a carbine...

But one way to go would be a Rohrbaugh R9 or Kahr CM9/PM9 for carry, an XD Tactical Model 5" for OC or nightstand gun and then carbine of choice.

Another way that you could do it is Glock 26 for CCW, Glock 17 for OC or nightstand gun and carbine of choice - I think the Lone Wolf 9mm carbine takes Glock magazines.

For 9mm rifle, the Beretta CX4 should be a contender.

Order the one that takes 92 series mags and 30 and 33 round mags are available for it..

not cheap, but worth it if you want high cap 9mm..

To keep everything consistent with ammo:
Glock 17 - full sized handgun
PF-9 - thinnest, lightest 9mm for CCW
Sub-2000 G-17 - glock mag compatibility
3 guns, 1 round, 2 with interchangeable mags.
All for just over $1k? Priceless...well....it'll cost you $1k.

I cannot agree with this more I own a S&W 5906 and I cant remember the firearm giving me a problem. It feed anything I give it, is ultra relaible, accurate, and really is a beast. The pistol is not that expensive and you could get a good used one. Mine is probably 15 years olde and looks brand new, no joke, minus a few scrapes. I love mine and you will not be dissapointed. They NYPD and many other police departments swear by them as do I. I trust my life to a S&W 3913NL at least 7 months out of a year. I carry a lot of mags for my single stacks with a flavor of reliable bullets .

1. EAA Witness Elite - for target shooting
2. Kahr CW9 or K9 - for CCW
3. AR 9mm Carbine, or an UZI - for ???

Buy a quality long gun and quality hand gun... RRA LAR9, SIG Sauer P226. No need for a third gun, spend the money on good ammo. Spend your time learning to shoot them rather than internet research on 'what is best'.

Best of luck, let us know how you proceed

It isn't cheap, but the Beretta CX4 seems very nice. Haven't had the opportunity to shoot one yet, just handle and drool over one at my LGS. It comes in several versions. One takes 92 series magazines; one takes PX4 magazines; and one takes 8045 magazines.

The 92 variant has the highest potential capacity, as noted by MidwestRookie. But the PX4 magazine variant does have 20rd magazines available, so I'd base the decision (between Berettas, anyway) on which pistols you like better, the M9/92 series or the PX4.

I like both the PX4 and the M9 better than I like Glocks, due to personal ergonomics (Glocks are good guns, but don't feel right in my hands). Otherwise, the carbines that take Glock magazines make sense to me.

Edit: Chadio, the OP didn't clarify, but my guess is he wants two pistols for one of two reasons, either of which are valid:

1) It never hurts to have a spare, in case one gets damaged, etc; and/or

2) One larger and one smaller, the smaller capable of serving as a magazine compatible BUG, spare, or standalone CCW.

I'm with Savage, but I might recommend the Glock 19 in stead of the G17.

As many have already indicated - if you are going specifically with three guns in mind it makes best sense to have all three guns use the same mags. With that criteria, consider the following:

1) Beretta CX4 Storm; Full Size (or Compact) PX4 Storm; Sub-Compact PX4 Storm

2) Marlin Model 9; Daewoo DP51 (or S&W 5900 variant); Compact variation of the same

Can go the S&W way or the Glock way...

- 3rd Gen S&W 59xx, Kel-Tec P-11, Marlin Camp 9 OR Kel-Tec Sub 2000 in S&W

- Glock 17, Glock 26, Kel-Tec Sub 2000 in Glock

Same hi-cap mags across the board if you so choose....

Hard to beat a Glock 17/19 for a full size.
A Kel-Tec P-F9 for carry
Kel-Tec SU 2000--uses your Glock mags.

+1 to MLeake.

My combo would be a CX4 Storm with PX4 magazines, just because the PX4 is my home defense/carry gun. I also have a 92FS and actually shoot it better than the PX4, but that one is issued and most of the time stays in my locker at the station, I seldom get her home unless I'm planning a trip to the range the day after.

I admit I'm a bit biased towards Beretta products, but it's just that they keep me quite happy!

I like the idea of the G26, G19 and a Kel Tec carbine that can use the Glock mags.

The other "best option" in my opinion is a Beretta PX4 compact, PX4 Sub-compact, and a CX carbine.

I would probably go the all Beretta route. If I'm going to have all three firing the same caliber, might as well go same manufacturer.

I have a PX4 Compact, and recommend it. I have a PX4 Subcompact, and it is reliable. However, it isn't much more concealable than the compact, and shoots to a lower POI. I would actually recommend the compact and full-size as the handgun pair.

Ruger made a carbine that took P-series mags.
