F-Class/PRS Scope Magnification/Brand

Ive decided to upgrade from a 10x swfa to a scope with more magnification,
Considering Vortex, Nightforce, Leupold.

I know vortex is running strong for the money and the warranty looks legit so iam considering it in this category of quality.

How much magnification would be good for 1000 yards and for other matches such as a prs or move and shoot.

Really like the 8x32 nightforce , seems 8x covers up close and 32 should be enough for the longer shots. I know mirage can come in and make us zoom down but I have a friend who says 22x is enough yet I see a lot of the professional shooters saying more is better on a good day and you can always dial her down...
What are you guys running to be competitive , not just show up and shoot but to actually hold your own. Of course wind, load, rifle plays but optics if my topic for now,
