Confusing Serial Number on Browning Citori

I have a Browning Citori Over/Under Shotgun Serial Number 46716 under Lever. Can't find any information on Date of Manufacture. I checked Browning site with no avail.

Japanese Browning SN's should have two Roman letters (A, B, C, etc) embedded in the SN, designating the year - have you removed the forend/barrels & checked for a full SN on the barrel bottoms and/or action interior ?

Are you sure you don't have a Belgium made Superposed? That would make your gun made in 1955. Is the gun marked with Miroku, Citori, and Japan?

I think I do have a Browning Superimposed 1955. Looks a lot like a Citori.

Couzin--- it's not marked with any of those names (miroku, citori or Japan), however it does say "Made in Belgium"

How can you tell whether its a B-25 or B-125?

B-25 is made and assembled in Belgium. The B-125 was made in Belgium and assembled in Portugal. Should state that on the barrel. The B-125's were less expensive, but of the same hand-fit quality. Currently, a new custom shop B-25 starts at around $20K and goes as high as $80K. Ouch...

here is a faux B-25 Superposed that is currently available from Browning. It's the Browning Citori White Lightning built by Miroku of Japan. They even used the same engraving pattern found on the 1957 Belgian Superposed. Nice gun, especially in 20 gauge...

It SHOULD look a lot like it - the Citori is the Japanese version of it with some internal differences and a different forearm removal.

Many consider the Belgium guns like yours to be the best Brownings ever, and one of the best O/U ever because of the barrels - their balance, construction, etc., are some of the finest around
