.32 acp

Trying to load .32 acp
Using a hcl 77 grain bullet and 2.2 grains of titegroup

The load seems to be good in my WWII Beretta 1934 and Colt 1903.

Problem is I get quite a few "fat/Bulged" finished cartridges.

Problem is in the area where the bullet is seated.

I have fussed with the crimp to hell and gone.
Most are fine but quite a few WILL NOT Chamber!

I think it has something to do with the bullet not seating straight,but
I just can't get it right.

I have several Lee Factory Crimp Dies
(.40 - .45 etc)
They do a good job of resizing the finished cartridge.

I wanted to go that route with the .32 , but
Lee does not seem to make a
FCD in .32 acp
They make one in .32 H&R (which is the same diameter case as the .32 acp)
Since I am only interested in resizing ( I will crimp when I seat)
Do you think I can use the .32 acp with the crimp portion screwed all the way out ???

I amcurrently doing it single stage style on a rockchucker and a lee carbide 3 die set.

I have both a piggyback for the rockchuker and a 650 with case feeder.

Does anybody have experience with either of those in .32 acp.

Any recommendations ???

I just ran into the same problem but with another caliber, I took a finished round, set it in the press raised it up, unscrewed the top part of the seating die, and then turned the whole die in till it touched the round, then gently screwed the top part of the die in till it touched, and that fixed it...I still do not understand why, but it worked for me...hope this helps.

The problem is your seating stem doesn't fit the bullets. Get a seating stem to fit the bullet and they will seat straight.

A FCD will cover up the problem, or you can fix the source of the problem.

HSMITH may have diagnosed the problem, I'm not familiar with the exact bullet you are using, so I can't comment on that. I will add, however, that Lee will make you a 32acp FCD for a pretty reasonable price (20-30 IIRC). I have one and I've never had a problem with the Lee dies in this caliber ... but I also use 60 grain XTPs in my reloads, and maybe they fit the seating stem better.
