Shipping ammo to states like California?
I have some 5.45 x 39 ammo but no gun for it.
I'm going to list it on Gunbroker but don't know which states allow ammo to be delivered to the buyer's home, and which states require it to be delivered to an FFL. Anybody else have that dilemma? How do you handle it? |

I don't have that dilemma, because I don't sell ammunition. However, this guide from The Sportsmans Guide Company may help. I don't vouch for its accuracy, but they have a staff of lawyers, so its a start.

I thought it was against the law for the common man/women to ship ammo.
We are lacking the permits to ship hazardous material. Maybe I should Google this? |

Exactly. Both carriers which will ship it (UPS and FedEx) have detailed info on their web sites.

The private sale of ammo to anyone in CA has to go through an FFL (so, not really a private sale). A year ago I was selling 5.45x39 also and the 1st buyer was in CA. He had an FFL that would accept, then the FFL changed his mind and we eventually had to cancel that sale. I hate to exclude a state, but after that hassle, if I were to sell ammo online nationally again, I would exclude CA. I still have 150 rounds of Hornady V-Max buried somewhere that I'll sell some day...
