Anyone ever used Restor -A- Finish?

Hi all. I have a walnut stock that I am fitting for my Marlin 981T. It is in great shape, but dirty and needs to be oiled or something. I took it to a buddy and he said it would be best to clean it with some acetone then use Tru Oil on it with some sanding between coats to my hearts content.

In my garage I found some Howard's Restore -A- Finish in Walnut and thought it might work. Has anyone used this on a gun stock with success?
